Strengthen Communication and Emotional Intimacy

Relationship Support After Infidelity

Infidelity can feel devastating — bringing shock, anger, grief, and deep uncertainty about what comes next. At Oak River Counseling, our couples therapists provide structured, compassionate couples therapy for partners navigating betrayal and rebuilding trust.

Our therapists help couples slow down the intensity, process what happened, and understand the deeper patterns that may have existed before the breach. Healing after infidelity isn’t about rushing forgiveness — it’s about creating clarity, accountability, and emotional safety.

Through marriage counseling in Enterprise and Ozark, Alabama (and telehealth across Alabama), we help couples:

  • Process betrayal in a safe, guided space

  • Rebuild trust through consistent actions and communication

  • Strengthen emotional connection

  • Develop healthier relationship patterns

  • Decide thoughtfully whether and how to move forward

Recovery is possible. With the right support, couples can move from crisis to clarity — and often toward a stronger, more intentional relationship.

Gottman Therapy

Our therapist, Sabrina Shaw, is Level 1 and Level 2 trained in the Gottman Method — a research-based approach to couples therapy grounded in over 40 years of relationship science.

The Gottman Method focuses on strengthening friendship, improving communication, managing conflict effectively, and rebuilding emotional connection. Rather than simply talking about problems, this structured approach helps couples learn practical tools they can use in everyday life.

Gottman therapy is especially helpful for couples who:

  • Argue frequently or feel stuck in recurring patterns

  • Struggle with communication or emotional distance

  • Are recovering from betrayal or trust issues

  • Want to deepen connection and strengthen their foundation

  • Are preparing for marriage

Sabrina integrates Gottman principles to help partners feel more understood, respected, and connected. Strong relationships aren’t built by accident. They’re built intentionally and we’re here to help guide that process.

Premarital Therapy

Marriage is one of the most meaningful commitments you will make — and preparing for it intentionally can make all the difference.

Premarital counseling at Oak River Counseling is designed to help engaged and seriously dating couples build a strong, healthy foundation before saying “I do.” Rather than waiting for problems to surface later, we help couples address important topics early in a supportive, structured environment.

Our premarital counseling services (available in Enterprise, Ozark, and via telehealth throughout Alabama) focus on:

  • Communication styles and conflict resolution

  • Financial conversations and shared goals

  • Expectations around roles and responsibilities

  • Family dynamics and boundaries

  • Intimacy and emotional connection

  • Long-term vision and values

Using evidence-based relationship principles and structured assessments, we help couples gain deeper insight into strengths and growth areas. You will walk away with practical tools you can use for years to come — not just for the wedding day, but for the marriage that follows. Premarital counseling is not about fixing problems.
It is about building confidence, clarity, and connection before stepping into lifelong commitment. Starting strong matters. We’re here to help you do just that.
