Maddison Kirscher, LMFT is our certified PCIT therapist. PCIT is an evidence-based treatment for young children with behavioral problems. This therapy is focused on enhancing parenting skills through live coaching and feedback during interactions. PCIT aims to empower parents, reduce disruptive behaviors, and promote a nurturing, supportive environment for healthy child development.
PCIT is for children 2-7 years of age who are struggling with hitting, kicking, biting, talking back, whining, swearing, not following directions, having temper tantrums/outbursts, being easily distracted/impulsive/hyperactive, having problems with peers/siblings, and have been thrown out of daycare/school.
Helpful for biological parents, foster & adoptive parents, and family members.
PCIT last 12-20 visits, sometimes more or less, as each family's needs are different. We work together until you've got the skills down & behaviors are on track. Many families start seeing changes after the first few sessions.
PCIT has two phases: Connection through Child-directive interaction and Correction through Parent-directive interaction, leading to brighter days.
